Who we are
Label League is run by Context Creative LLC, a Maryland limited liability company (“we” or “us”). This policy covers the website at thelabelleague.com and the emails we send. It explains what we collect, what we do with it, and the choices you have.
The short version: we collect as little as we can to run a fantasy league. There are no ads, no trackers and no cookies, and we never sell your information.
Questions go to hello@thelabelleague.com.
What we collect
- Your email address, when you sign up, sign in, join the launch list, or add it to an artist suggestion.
- Your label: its name, motto and color.
- What you post: League Chat and Draft Room messages (including quotes), poll votes, the reason on any protest you file, and artists you suggest, with any note.
- How you play: draft picks and your draft queue, roster moves, claims and bids, trades, game scores, and the display name you choose for game leaderboards.
- Sign-in records: your sign-in links, codes and session keys, stored only as scrambled one-way hashes, plus when your account was created and last active. Each time you ask for a code, we also note the day, whether you already had an account, whether you asked on the website or the app, and whether you used it and how many minutes that took, with no email address attached.
- Your agreement to our terms: which version of the Terms of Use and this policy you agreed to, and when, each time you sign in, apply for a label or ask to join one, with the email address you used.
- A scrambled form of your network address. We never store your IP address. We keep a one-way hash of it, mixed with the date and a secret key, so it changes every day. We keep it with the sign-in request, game play or sign-up it came from, and use it only to stop abuse, such as too many sign-in requests or more than one daily game play.
- What stays on your device. The website keeps your sign-in key and game progress in your browser’s local storage.
- Messages you send us, such as support emails.
- Prize details, from winners only. If you win a prize, we ask where to send it (your Venmo, PayPal, Zelle or Cash App account) and for your confirmation that you can win. If your prizes in a year reach the amount the IRS requires us to report, we’ll also need a Form W-9 from you, which we collect directly, not through the site.
We don’t collect your location, contacts, photos, card or bank account numbers, or advertising identifiers. We don’t use cookies or third-party analytics.
How we use it
- To run your account, your label and the league: the draft, scoring, standings and moves.
- To send your sign-in link and code, the league emails you’ve asked for, and replies to your messages.
- To keep the game fair and safe: rate limits, one daily play per person, moderating chat, and enforcing our Terms of Use.
- To run the season’s contest: confirming winners, paying prizes and filing the required tax forms.
- To fix bugs and improve the game.
- To follow the law.
We use AI tools, including Anthropic’s Claude, to help compile the daily wire and the weekly scoring. Those jobs work with public artist data and league records such as label names, rosters and moves. They don’t use your email address or your chat messages.
We don’t sell your personal information, share it for advertising, or use it to build profiles for anyone else.
What other people can see
- Anyone: your label’s name, motto, color, roster, standing and recent moves, and its most recent League Chat message from the past week, which appears on your label’s public page. Game leaderboards show the display name and score you post.
- Signed-in members: League Chat, Draft Room chat, polls, and the moves in the league ledger, including any protests on them.
- Only the Commissioner: your email address, any prize details you give us, and the details needed to run the league and moderate it.
- Your label’s team: if your label splits a prize, its members see how much each person gets, never anyone’s prize details.
Your email address is never shown publicly.
How long we keep it
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Sign-in links and codes | 15 minutes, until they expire |
| Session keys | 90 days from your last visit (a year at most), or until you sign out |
| Sign-in rate-limit records | About 2 days |
| Sign-in counts | 400 days |
| Records of which terms you agreed to | While your account is open |
| Your account, label and posts | While your account is open |
| Launch-list and newsletter sign-ups | Until you unsubscribe |
| Leaderboard names and scores | As long as the boards run, unless you ask us to remove yours |
| Where to send your prizes | Until you change it or delete your account |
| Prize and tax records | As long as tax law requires |
When you delete your account, we delete your email address, sessions, label details and posts. Past league results stay, in anonymous form, so standings still add up: your label shows as a retired label. Records of the prizes we paid you stay as long as tax law requires, even after you delete your account; where to send them is deleted with it. Deleted information can remain in routine backups for up to 30 days.
Your choices
- Delete your account at any time. Email us from the address on your account, and we’ll delete it. Deletion is permanent.
- See or fix your information. Email us, and we’ll respond within 30 days. This applies wherever you live.
- Email. We send sign-in emails only when you ask for one. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
- Do Not Track. We don’t track you across other sites or apps, so browser Do Not Track signals don’t change anything here.
Children
Label League isn’t meant for children. You must be 18 or older to create an account. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, and if we learn we have, we delete it. Parents can reach us at hello@thelabelleague.com.
Security
There are no passwords to steal: you sign in with one-time links and codes, which we store only as one-way hashes. Every connection uses HTTPS. Only the Commissioner can see account details. No system is perfectly secure, and if a breach affects your information, we’ll tell you as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
We’ll post any update here with a new date. For significant changes, we’ll also email members or post a notice on the site before they take effect.
